Fathers Day

A glorious Father’s Day at Top Knot. My oldest is in Barcelona, Spain with his wife and my baby girl is in Arlington, Texas living her best life. 

So fortunate to have the amazing kids I have. Yes, at 28 and 30, they are what you might think of as kids, but they’ll always be my kids. So proud of them. I love the people they are and continue to evolve to be. 

Meanwhile, at Top Knot, it’s an absolutely perfect first full day of summer. 68 degrees. 30% humidity. Critters enjoying some snacks. And the mountains and Big Sky country just showing off. 

I get to look to the future with pride, hope, and deep optimism because of the work and effort of the past. And a whole lot of good fortune and resiliency. 

Learn from any and all experiences and always be a dreamer.

Adios 2025. Hello 2026 and the beginning of “Less is more”

​Currently at 35,000 feet over the Gulf of ‘Merica on my way back from a trip to my condo in Ecuador with my kids. They’re adults and I’m so grateful they still wanna hang out with the old guy. Sure, a beach trip in December is a mighty tempting lure, but they are strong enough and independent enough to tell me no. And they know I’m totally cool with that. This may, in fact, be our last group trip. We’ll see. They’re getting awfully growdy uppy.  So I turn my sights to tomorrow…January 1st…and my planned focus on less is more.  1. Less social media-peace out to TikTok and Facebook and Instagram. More time to work out. More time to write the books I have in my head. First one is started.  1. La vida en la playa- The beach life

  As I prepare to launch Less is More, I am thankful for risks I have taken and decisions that have left others wondering why. I worked for a school district for 12 years. Each day I went to work with the mindset that I was there to make things better for kids. That was my job. Upper administration believed the kids came to school each day to generate their income. The more and the louder I disagreed, the more they launched character attacks against me. If you don’t drink the koolaid and weren’t a high school buddy of one of the boys’ club, then you were a menace and targeted. What they failed to understand was that they would not break me.  Fate stepped in during COVID and allowed me opportunity. The older I get, the more I am working in quieting my mind so I can hear those knocks at the door.  I left the toxic district and closed out my career in a fabulous place that shared my ideals about how to make things better for kids.
